On the anniversary of last year's unshibari un-week-end, we invite you to share an experimental day of unshibari installation and movement practice.

Building on Dasniya Sommer's Xplore and post-xplore Sydney workshops, this experiment is an opportunity to take part in transforming Schwelle Sydney into a life-art space of suspension. It is also a chance to learn new unshibari techniques, performance skills, as well as body and spacial awareness.

We invite you to tie with the seriousness of a child at play with the ropes and other materials, to get into the space of childlike curiosity and imagination, which is probably the origin of all creativity. Messy bondage brings up emotions quite different from that of normal bondage. It calls and responds to different thoughts in our psyche. It is not an anti-aesthetic, but perhaps a different aesthetic.

The work may culminate in a group performance installation. For this reason we will be teaching certain movement skills. These skills, such as spatial/temporal awareness, interruption, ability to imagine oneself seen from outside of oneself, while listening to what is going on within, are worth learning whether one is a performer or not. There will be writing opportunities, as well as chances to dress-up in costumes of your own choosing.

We welcome expressions of interest, stating your experience with rope, with movement and performance and your time availability.

The cost for participation in the week-end will be decided by the participants themselves.

The research will be led by Peter, Natalia and a renowned guest (to be announced).
